Date of Death:10/02/1943
Regiment/Service:Civilian War Dead
Additional Information:Special Constable. Son of Fanny Harriett, and of the late Frank Hall; husband of Evelyn Maud Hall, of 9 Terminus Road. Died at 7 St. Martin's Street.

Chichester Observer - Saturday 13 February 1943

...In St. Martin's Street, the main seat of the destruction was at No. 7, the home for so long of Mrs. and the late Mr. F. H. Hall. This house, with property adjoining on the south, met with total destruction, a mass of debris blocking the street, and there was much damage to other houses and business premises. Mrs. Hall, who was 85, and her son. Mr. Charles Hall, well-known business man, were among the fatal casualties, as was Mr. F. W. Barnes, manager of Reeves' garage, whose home was at Selsey...

Charles Hall, buried in Chichester Cemetery, was one of the casualties from the raid mentioned in the topic Attack on Chichester, 10th February 1943. I've copied a photo from that topic which shows the scene at St. Martin's Street shortly after the raid - No.7 is the destroyed house.
