Following the gift of an acre of land and some buildings in 1883 by Theodore Moillet,  Barnardos started building "The Baby Castle" opening in 1884 with 26 babies and by 1886 extensions to take 120 babies had been built. It finally closed in 1965. Google Earth 2017 shows it as a building site.
