John Stanley Bailey
Aircraftman 2nd Class
Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve
Service number 3111153

Died on the 28th December 1947  aged 18 years.

Buried in Hurstpierpoint New Cemetery, Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex - grave Reference: Plot H. Grave 187.

Son of George and Marie Cecile Bailey, of Hurstpierpoint.

Aircraftman 2nd Class John Stanley Bailey's resting place is recognised by the CWGC as a military grave and his details, above, were obtained from the CWGC website.

He was 18 years old when he died in December 1947 and therefore I doubt is he was an enlisted serviceman during WWII - but his date of death does mean that he is recognised by the CWGC.  As you can see from the photograph he doesn't have a CWGC style headstone.

AC2 Bailey's name does not appear on either of the two Hurstpierpoint War Memorials - nor does his name appear anywhere on the  Roll of Honour - Sussex - Hurstpierpoint  website.

I have not been able to find out why he died so young.
