Thanet Advertiser - Tuesday 16 February 1943

SECOND MINSTER ACCIDENT DEATH
The death took place at Redhill Hospital on Sunday of Spr. Samuel Walter Slingsby, aged 40, Royal Canadian Engineers, who was injured when two Army lorries collided at Monkton-road, Minster. An inquest was held at Ramsgate recently on Spr. Elgin McIvor, who received fatal injuries in the same accident.

Samuel Walter Slingsby

See Service record . Born Hull in 1902. To Canada 1906 with parents Harry & Lizzie.
Arrived UK 11/12. 6.1942.
Awarded Defence, War Medals.  C.V.S.M & clasp

Died from Cerebral concussion fracture mandible & left arm hypostatic pneumonia. At 14 Canadian Hospital Burstow, Surrey.

Married to Viola with 5 children
