Additional Information:Son of James and Martha Cambridge, of Kingston-on-Thames.


Western Daily Press - Monday 13 December 1920

MILITARY AMBUSHED.
A party of military were ambushed by Sinn Feiners at Deer Park, near Fermoy. Private Cawbridge (sic) was killed and two other soldiers wounded, one seriously. The casualties amongst the Sinn Feiners are unknown.

Robert Charles Cambridge

Soldiers Effects:- Died Cork. £14.4.3 to mother Martha C E Leigh

A Public Tree on Ancestry, shows born Jan 1902, Kingston, Parents William James(died 1903) & Martha Caroline Eleanor (nee Greenfield).

A Brother George died 7.2.1915. Coldstream Guards. Buried Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.
Another Charles Robert died 1.7.1916 Somme. L/Cpl 4163 55th Co, Machine Gun Corps. On Thiepval Memorial.


In 1911 with his mother Martha & stepfather John Leigh. Also 4 siblings. At 10 Fairfield Place, Mill Street Kingston On Thames Kingston Upon Thames
John Leigh was a Compositor. Mother & 2 siblings were Wood Cutters(by handle for bundles of wood)
