Whilst landing at RAF Beaulieu on 18 December 1948 the tail rotor of Sikorsky S.4 Hoverfly II, of the AFEE (Airborne Forces Experimental Establishment), struck the ground and suffered damage. There is no record - not, at least, that I have found - of the extent of the damage. I doubt that the crew suffered injuries of significance, it at all.

The rotor blades were bent and trashed, the landing gear (skids, rails) also destroyed.

Was the damage repaired or was the Hoverfly struck off charge? Were there any injuries?
