Has anyone yet installed a gas fuelled coal effect fire in such a beacon?
I am told that the one that was on the top of the church tower at Minster in Thanet was a gas powered one.
Only one photograph - and that only on what appears to be a flyer - of a beacon basket charged, lit and burning. Is it because the powers that be consider such to be a fire hazard or a risk to health and safety or suchlike? Or is it that they are lit only on rare occasions and no-one on this forum has been on the spot, on such an occasion, to capture a photograph of one alight?
I wasn't allowed out as it was dark
