I really don't have much info at all on any ROC posts and Barham I'm afraid is no different, as you're no doubt aware they formed a countrywide network of some 1500 small 'bunkers' used by the Royal Observer Core to monitor any radioactive fallout in the event of a nuclear attack.

As far as I can make out, the Barham post was opened in June 1960 and was due to be closed in September 1991 when the ROC were stood down, it appears that this one however may have been operational for longer as it was used as one of 6 MOD 'seismic stations' which remained in service for a little longer to help monitor the nuclear test ban verification.

Anyway as I'm well out of my depth with these things, I'll shut up now and just post some pictures from a visit in April 2007. Smiley
