An interesting event, and the sun even made the odd appearance too which made me happy (there's nothing worse than dull conditions when I'm trying to take some snaps ). Plenty of vehicles to play with, firearms officers on the shooting range, the police helicopter, riot control demonstrations etc..

This bike was registered new to Kent County Constabulary on 4th April 1990. It was part of a batch prepared and supplied by Vehicle Developments of Andover, hence the Hampshire registration. It served initially at Nackington traffic garage and then went for rider training purposes, being written off there in 1995 after an accident. The last BMW 'K' series in service with Kent Police, the bike was decommisioned and sold in its damaged state to police workshop manager Ian Milberry in 2006. Kawasaki Z200 BCD 5Y
This bike was registered new to Kent County Constabulary on 12th July 1983, and was No.93 out of 94 Z200's used by the Force. The last batch was registered BCD 1Y to BCD 6Y. These Kawasakis replaced the Honda CB200's used by rural officers and were the last small bikes used by the Force before they were replaced with Ford Fiesta vans. BCD 5Y first served at Borough Green and then Tonbridge. It was decomissioned and sold on 26th May 1989 at auction to the officer who had ridden it at Tonbridge, PC Phil Wright. He owned the bike until 2001 and then sold it for scrap. Somehow it survived and appeared on eBay in 2008, being bought and restored by PC Steve Mace.

The police helicopter eventually arrived after a delay of 45 minutes, and proved to be the star attraction for the waiting crowds..
