Just a little book, only 40 pages long, but a mine of information.
Written by the great-grandaughter of the founder of the barge builder, it is well illustrated, and lists all the barges built on the Quay since 1891, and details of their subsequent fate.
One barge distinguished itself at Dunkirk, was blown up by an IRA bomb, yet remains afloat to this day.
A nostalgic trip back to the past in a nutshell!

Felton's was a timber yard that used to be next to the toll bridge at Sandwich.

The actual barge-building sheds were further down the Quay by the river, past the Fishergate/Drill Hall.
