GRANDFATHERS SEE LIFE
With the return of paupers from Cookfield (sic) to Newhaven Workhouse, which has been in Military occupation, some of the men aged 80 and upwards made their first  train journey. They were  surprised and delighted with the experience. The first journey upon the evacuation of the Workhouse was made in furniture vans
