Work has begun on uncovering the long-buried sound mirrors at Fan Bay:

Will be great to see them in all their glory - just a shame that the urchins are likely to vandalise them as they have every other surviving mirror..

Had a look at the work going on here on Monday. The mirrors look in superb condition!  Smiley

Had a look at the Sound Mirrors today, it's great to see them showing their faces. Who knows, if the Russkies keep sending their 'Bears' down the Channel, the MoD might well want to put them back into use  Grin

My wife and I walked the Dover area in July 2016 on a very hot day. I must admit I didn't know the sound mirrors were there but I suppose the last time I walked the area with the wife in the eighties they were still covered. We didn't go in via the tunnels as my wife is claustrophobic. A great walk but I struggled to breath after climbing the steps by the sound mirrors!
