HMS Swordfish was constructed at Chatham Dockyard and was launched in July 1932. She served in the first two years of WWII, her only victory was an enemy merchant vessel which she torpedoed on 27th October 1940. Swordfish was lost with all hands whilst on patrol in November 1940 - she was discovered off the Isle of Wight in 1983, about 12 miles south of St. Catherine's Point, and her remains are protected under the Protection of Military Remains Act 1986.
