Memorial to Flight Lieutenant Ian Muirhead D.F.C., Hempstead
« on: February 07, 2021, 10:22:05 am »
A couple of photographs of the memorial to Flight Lieutenant Ian Muirhead. Dedicated last year, it's a small plaque fixed to a War Department boundary stone near the site of his fatal crash at Speke's Bottom, Hempstead in Kent. More details on KentOnline.

Looking across the valley from Darland Banks towards the memorial recently, it looked as if a massive programme of ground clearance might have obliterated this memorial. A visit to the site the other day put my mind to rest - but will this memorial survive whatever is planned?
