Lord SACKVILLE CECIL, a relative of the Prime, Minister, is a particularly clever engineer in all matters affecting the telegraph and telephone, and at his pretty house, between Hayes and Keston, in Kent, he has a laboratory in which he spends much time in working out problems. He is about to make a trip to Austria for the purpose of investigating au interesting and important telegraphic improvement.

He was also a railway man, serving apprenticeships with the Great Eastern and Great Northern Railways and being employed as assistant traffic manager of the Great Eastern Railway (1878-80) and general manager of the Metropolitan District Railway (for a period of five years - dates unknown, but possibly 1880-85).
